Loose skin is the hardest thing to fix without surgery. Here is what each option realistically does, and how to tell which one fits your skin.

Quick answer: Non-surgical skin tightening treats mild to moderate loose skin without incisions. At Arlo Medical the options are Plexr Plus plasma tightening for targeted areas such as the eyelids, lips, and jawline ($800 to $1,000 per area), Plexr Shower for a gentler all-over refresh ($400 face), NeoGen PSR resurfacing to rebuild collagen and firm skin quality ($900 to $1,800), and a thread lift where tissue needs repositioning. Results build over two to three months. None of them remove excess skin, and significant laxity is a surgical problem.
Loose skin is the concern people most want fixed and the one that is hardest to fix without surgery. Plenty of treatments promise tightening. Fewer explain how much tightening, on which skin, and over what timeline.
This guide covers what non-surgical skin tightening actually does, the options we offer in Calgary, what each costs, and the point at which the honest answer is a surgeon.
Skin holds its shape because of collagen, which gives it strength, and elastin, which lets it spring back. Both decline steadily from our mid-twenties. Sun exposure speeds that up considerably, and so do smoking, large weight changes, and genetics.
The result is skin laxity: skin that looks crepey, folds more easily, and sits lower than it used to. It shows first where skin is thinnest, around the eyes, on the neck, and along the jawline.
It helps to separate two problems that look similar. One is skin quality: thin, crepey, less elastic skin. The other is descent: deeper tissue and fat that have moved downward because the face has lost volume and support. Skin tightening treats the first. It does much less for the second, which is why tightening alone sometimes disappoints. Our guide to non-surgical face lift options covers treatments aimed at descent and volume.
Almost every tightening treatment works on the same principle. It delivers a controlled injury to the skin, and the skin responds by contracting and producing new collagen as it heals. The differences between treatments are in how that energy is delivered, how deep it goes, and how much recovery it asks of you.
Two things follow from that. First, results are gradual, because new collagen takes eight to twelve weeks to form. Second, the result depends on how well your skin can still respond. Skin with some elasticity left responds well. Very lax, sun-damaged skin responds less.

Plexr Plus uses a fine plasma arc to treat tiny points on the skin surface. The skin around each point contracts, and collagen builds over the following weeks. Because it is so precise, it suits small, delicate areas that most devices cannot treat, including the upper and lower eyelids.
If eyelids are your main concern, our guide to hooded eyes and non-surgical eyelid lifting goes into detail, and Plexr recovery shows what the two weeks afterward actually look like.
Plexr Shower uses the same plasma technology at a much lower intensity, spread across the whole face or neck rather than focused on points. It improves skin tone and mild firmness with no real downtime, but the tightening effect is modest. Think of it as maintenance and skin quality rather than correction.
NeoGen PSR uses nitrogen plasma to resurface the skin and stimulate collagen deep in the dermis. Unlike Plexr Plus, it treats the whole face evenly. It is a skin quality treatment first, improving texture, tone, and fine lines, and the firming effect builds over months as collagen remodels.
For how it compares with laser resurfacing, see NeoGen PSR vs CO2 laser. Fall and winter are the best seasons for resurfacing, for reasons covered in our resurfacing timing guide.
A Visage Excellence thread lift is not a tightening treatment in the strict sense. Absorbable threads are placed under the skin to lift and reposition soft tissue, with some collagen stimulation along the thread. It is the option to consider when sagging along the cheeks, jawline, or neck is about descent rather than skin quality. Our thread lift guide covers what it involves.
Many people have more than one of these, and plans often combine two treatments in sequence. The order matters, and it is worked out at your consultation.

This is the section most clinics skip.
If your assessment shows that surgery is the better route, we will tell you. That is a normal result of a consultation, and better than spending money on treatment that cannot reach the problem.
Searches for skin tightening bring up a long list of branded devices, including Ultherapy, Sofwave, Morpheus8, Thermage, and FaceTite. They use ultrasound, radiofrequency, or microneedling to heat deeper tissue.
Arlo Medical does not offer any of them. We use plasma technology and thread lifts, which is what this guide describes. If one of those devices suits you better, you are best served by a clinic that owns one and uses it often.
Plasma treatments show an early change as swelling settles, then improve steadily over eight to twelve weeks as collagen forms. Plexr Plus usually needs two sessions. NeoGen PSR builds over several months. A thread lift gives an immediate lift that settles over the following weeks.
Daily sun protection matters before and after any of these. It protects the healing skin from pigmentation and protects the new collagen you are building. Results vary from person to person, and ageing continues underneath any treatment.
The useful first question is whether your concern is mainly skin quality, mainly descent, or both. That decides which treatment, if any, makes sense. Book a complimentary consultation and we will assess your skin at rest and in movement, explain what is realistic, and give you pricing before anything is agreed. Suitability, expected outcomes, and risks are reviewed individually.
It depends on the area and the cause. For delicate areas like the eyelids and around the mouth, Plexr Plus is the most targeted option we offer. For overall crepiness and texture across the face, NeoGen PSR. Where sagging is about tissue moving downward rather than skin quality, a thread lift. A consultation is the way to tell which applies to you.
At Arlo Medical, Plexr Plus is $800 to $1,000 per area, Plexr Shower is $400 for the face or $600 for face and neck, and NeoGen PSR is $900 to $1,800 depending on depth. Most plans involve more than one session, so ask for the cost of the full course.
Plexr Plus results typically last around five years. Collagen built through resurfacing lasts well, though ageing continues, so many people do occasional maintenance. Thread lift results are temporary by design.
Plexr Plus leaves small carbon scabs for 5 to 7 days. NeoGen PSR involves several days of redness and flaking. Plexr Shower has essentially none. A thread lift may involve a few days of swelling or bruising.
Mild to moderate laxity on the neck can improve with plasma treatment. Significant loose skin or banding on the neck is better assessed for surgery.
No. We do not offer Ultherapy, Sofwave, Morpheus8, Thermage, or FaceTite. Our tightening options are Plexr Plus, Plexr Shower, NeoGen PSR, and thread lifts.
