Our Botox treatments can also improve skin texture, giving you a refreshed and natural look. For medical purposes, Botox injections are effective in treating conditions such as chronic migraines, TMJ, jaw clenching, muscle spasms, and excessive sweating (hyperhidrosis).

We offer personalized treatment plans and complimentary consultations to carefully evaluate your concerns and aesthetic goals. Our clinic ensures that each Botox injection is precisely administered to the appropriate injection sites for optimal results.

How Do Botox Treatments Work?

Botox works by reducing the signal between the nerves and muscles, causing the muscle to relax. For fine lines and wrinkles, this prevents the facial muscles from creating and deepening the creases in the skin. For therapeutic injections, this reduces the muscle contractions that may be the cause of the pain, providing relief.

The Botox is administered via a very fine needle. There is little to no pain and there is no downtime required after treatment.

Botox can be used for:

  • Fine lines and wrinkles
  • Chronic headaches
  • Chronic migraines
  • Jaw clenching
  • Teeth grinding
  • Temporomandibular Joint (TMJ) pain
  • Excessive Sweating (hyperhidrosis)

What to expect

Your initial consultation will take approximately 1 hour as we get a detailed history and discuss your treatment goals.

Next, we perform a photography series to document current areas of concern. The Botox will be injected using a very tiny needle into the muscles that cause the fine lines and wrinkles. The number of injections and amount of Botox used will depend on the strength of the muscles causing the wrinkles.

There is no downtime after Botox treatment. You may resume all regular activities right away.

Results may be visible within a few days but may take 7 to 14 days for full effect. The results usually last 3 to 4 months before additional injections are necessary to maintain results. Therapeutic treatments may last 3 to 6 months or longer. We typically ask our clients to come back after 14 days to document and assess results and perform a touch-up if necessary.

Is Botox covered by Alberta Health?

Botox is not typically covered by Alberta Health when used for cosmetic purposes, such as reducing fine lines and wrinkles. However, medical Botox treatments for conditions like chronic migraines, TMJ, and excessive sweating (hyperhidrosis) may be covered under certain circumstances. It's best to consult with our team at Arlo Medical Injections and your healthcare provider to understand your coverage options.

How long do Botox injections usually last?

Botox injections usually last between 3 to 4 months. The duration can vary depending on the treated areas and individual factors. Most patients notice a gradual return of muscle activity and wrinkles as the Botox wears off. Regular treatments can help maintain the desired results. At Arlo Medical Injections in Calgary, we can create a personalized treatment schedule to ensure optimal and lasting effects.

What are the bad side effects of Botox?

Some potential side effects of Botox include bruising, swelling, redness at the injection sites, and mild pain. In rare cases, patients may experience headaches, drooping eyelids, or muscle weakness in the treated areas. Our experienced practitioners at Arlo Medical Injections carefully evaluate each patient to minimize the risk of adverse effects and ensure a safe and effective treatment.

What happens when you stop Botox?

When you stop Botox treatments, the muscles gradually regain their normal activity, and the wrinkles and lines previously treated may reappear over time. The skin will return to its pre-treatment state, but it won't worsen beyond that. At Arlo Medical Injections in Calgary, we can help you maintain a consistent treatment plan to keep your skin looking smooth and refreshed.
